Ex Minister Mzembi and Ex Minister Undenge arrested by Zacc for abuse of office and held at Marlborough Police Station in Harare

Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) anti-corruption yesterday arrested, the ex Foreign Affairs Minister Walter Mzembi and ex Energy and Power Development Minister Samuel Undenge on charges of abuse of office.

The two were set to appear before the Harare Magistrates’ Court today and at the time of reporting they were being held at Marlborough Police Station in Harare.

Mzembi allegedly donated to churches four television screens that had been bought by the Zimbabwe Government for the promotion of the World Cup in 2010, in contravention of section 174 of the Criminal Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23, which is abuse of office as a public figure.

The TVs were allegedly donated to Walter Magaya’s Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries , the Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s United Family International Church and Bishop Nehemia Mutendi’s Zion Christian Church (ZCC). More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
